1 Corinthians 1:10–17; 3:1–11

Developing Unity


Though we may walk different paths, speak different languages, and experience different trials, we can find unity in our love for and desire to be like the Savior.
10 సహోదరులారా, మీరందరు ఏకభావముతో మాట లాడవలెననియు, మీలో కక్షలు లేక, యేక మనస్సు తోను ఏకతాత్పర్యముతోను, మీరు సన్నద్ధులై యుండ వలెననియు, మన ప్రభువైన యేసుక్రీస్తు పేరట మిమ్మును వేడుకొనుచున్నాను. 
11 నా సహోదరులారా, మీలో కలహములు కలవని మిమ్మునుగూర్చి క్లోయె యింటివారివలన నాకు తెలియవచ్చెను. 
12 మీలో ఒకడునేను పౌలు వాడను, ఒకడునేను అపొల్లోవాడను, మరియొకడు నేను కేఫావాడను, ఇంకొకడునేను క్రీస్తువాడనని చెప్పుకొనుచున్నారని నా తాత్పర్యము. 

13 క్రీస్తు విభజింపబడి యున్నాడా? పౌలు మీ కొరకు సిలువ వేయబడెనా? పౌలు నామమున మీరు బాప్తిస్మము పొందితిరా?
14 నా నామమున మీరు బాప్తిస్మము పొందితిరని యెవరైనను చెప్పకుండునట్లు, 
15 క్రిస్పునకును గాయియుకును తప్ప మరి యెవరికిని నేను బాప్తిస్మ మియ్యలేదు; అందుకై దేవునికి కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించు చున్నాను. 
16 స్తెఫను ఇంటివారికిని బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చితిని; వీరికి తప్ప మరి ఎవరికైనను బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చితినేమో నేనెరుగను. 17 బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చుటకు క్రీస్తు నన్ను పంపలేదు గాని, క్రీస్తుయొక్క సిలువ వ్యర్థముకాకుండునట్లు, వాక్చాతుర్యము లేకుండ సువార్త ప్రకటించుటకే ఆయన నన్ను పంపెను.

1 సహోదరులారా, ఆత్మసంబంధులైన మనుష్యులతో మాటలాడినట్లు నేను మీతో మాటలాడలేక పోతిని. శరీర సంబంధులైన మనుష్యులే అనియు, క్రీస్తునందు పసిబిడ్డలే అనియు, మీతో మాటలాడవలసివచ్చెను. 
2 అప్పటిలో మీకు బలము చాలకపోయినందున పాలతోనే మిమ్మును పెంచితినిగాని అన్నముతో మిమ్మును పెంచలేదు. మీరింకను శరీరసంబంధులై యుండుటవలన ఇప్పుడును మీరు బలహీనులై ¸ 3 మీలో అసూయయు కలహమును ఉండగా మీరు శరీర సంబంధులై మనుష్య రీతిగా నడుచుకొనువారు కారా? 4 ఒకడు నేను పౌలు వాడను, మరియొకడునేను అపొల్లోవాడను, అని చెప్పు నప్పుడు మీరు ప్రకృతిసంబంధులైన మనుష్యులు కారా? 5 అపొల్లో ఎవడు? పౌలెవడు? పరిచారకులే గదా. ఒక్కొ క్కరికి ప్రభువనుగ్రహించిన ప్రకారము వారి ద్వారా మీరు విశ్వసించితిరి 6 నేను నాటితిని, అపొల్లో నీళ్లు పోసెను, వృద్ధి కలుగజేసిన వాడు దేవుడే 7 కాబట్టి వృద్ధి కలుగజేయు దేవునిలోనే గాని, నాటువానిలోనైనను నీళ్లు పోయువానిలోనైనను ఏమియులేదు. 8 నాటువాడును నీళ్లుపోయువాడును ఒక్కటే. ప్రతి వాడు తాను చేసిన కష్టముకొలది జీతము పుచ్చుకొనును. 9 మేము దేవుని జతపనివారమై యున్నాము; మీరు దేవుని వ్యవసాయమును దేవుని గృహమునై యున్నారు. 10 దేవుడు నాకనుగ్రహించిన కృపచొప్పున నేను నేర్పరి యైన శిల్పకారునివలె పునాదివేసితిని, మరియొకడు దాని మీద కట్టుచున్నాడు; ప్రతివాడు దానిమీద ఏలాగు కట్టుచున్నాడో జాగ్రత్తగా చూచు కొనవలెను. 11 వేయబడినది తప్ప, మరియొక పునాది ఎవడును వేయనేరడు; ఈ పునాది యేసు క్రీస్తే. 

Paul uses the image of a building to encourage unity in 1 Corinthians 3:9–17. How could this analogy help your class better understand unity? For example, after reading these verses together, you could give each class member a block and work together to build something. In what sense are we “God’s building”? (1 Corinthians 3:9). How is God building us individually? What are we building together as fellow Saints? What can we do as a unified ward that we wouldn’t be able to do as individuals?

Why did Paul write about head coverings and hairstyles?

Paul referred to cultural customs of dress and grooming in order to teach about the relationships between men, women, and the Lord. While we do not follow these customs today, we can still learn from Paul’s declaration in 1 Corinthians 11:11 that men and women are both needed in the Lord’s plan, both in marriage and in the Church.  1 Corinthians 11:11 11 Nevertheless neither is the man  without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 11  అయితే ప్రభువునందు స్త్రీకి వేరుగా పురుషుడు లేడు పురుషునికి వేరుగా స్త్రీలేదు.  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Elder David A. Did Paul teach that it is better to be unmarried than married?

Several verses in  1 Corinthians 7  seem to suggest that while marriage is acceptable, remaining single and abstaining completely from sexual relations is preferred. However,  Joseph Smith Translation, 1 Corinthians 7:29–33  (see Bible appendix) helps us understand that Paul was referring to those called to be full-time missionaries, observing that they were able to serve God better if they remained single during their missions.  The Lord has taught through His servants, including Paul, that marriage is part of His eternal plan and necessary for exaltation (see  1 Corinthians 11:11 ;  D&C 131:1–4 ). 1 Corinthians 11:11 11  Nevertheless neither is the  man  without the woman, neither the  woman  without the man, in the Lord.
